Christ is risen, He is risen indeed.
HALLELUJAH!
Let us not forget that, whatever we might be doing this Wednesday morning in the knowledge that our sins of yesterday - for which we repent - have been wiped clean by the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus. I need to remember that every morning I wake up.
This morning we will be picking up where we left off with our journey through Paul’s letter to the Romans - chapter 13. Join us if you wish to and can make it anytime between 09:30 and 11:00. You are most welcome.
So then, what does Paul have to say to us today? Well, he says that governments are God’s authority on earth. …WHAT? you’ve got to be kidding, surely? Not kidding, governments are there to protect our society from the destructive selfish nature of humanity. I know, I know - sometimes we can find this difficult to accept. Paul puts it like this, for the sake of your conscience pay your taxes, pay your revenues, abide by the laws of the land. Taxes etc are not there in order to enrich those that govern us (I heard that muttering from the back of the class!) rather it is a way of helping our society to care for those in need and to protect us from those other states that may wish to harm us. Just imagine what our society would look like if we each individually paid the amount that we thought fair!! Anyway, moving on, Paul lists a number of the 10 commandments s as nd tells us that all of the commandments can be fulfilled by the new commandment, and covenant, to love God and to love each other. If we do that then it covers all of the 10 commandments in one fell swoop - simples (not!). Paul reminds us that our day of judgement and salvation is another dsy neater, let us put aside the deeds of darkness and clothe ourselves (at all times) with the armour of light that our Lord Jesus gave us.
Have faith and confidence in His promise, my Centenary family, in remembering that He died for you, he died so that you may be saved. Love one another -even those that are difficult for you to love- because Jesus loves them too.
Have great day, join us for ‘Chill n Chat’ if you’re near the church between 12:30 - 2:30 today.
God bless you (and me)
